About Christine

Coucou,
my name is Christine and this blog is an “affair of the heart”.

In my professional life I work in the financial business industry and love what I do. It is number and fact driven. Privately I have an abundance of creative spirit, energy and emotional engagement to make my world and my surroundings beautiful and create my own cocoon.

I am a native German and my love for traveling and experiencing foreign cultures have led me to an exchange student year in the US in 1979/ 1980 living on beautiful Cape Cod and the East Coast. Back then I vowed to have a beach house there someday.

But the path of life took a different route and after many years and numerous vacations spent in beautiful Cassis on the French Cote d´Azur, in 2018 my husband and I bought an old french mas in La Ciotat (the neighboring village) and have renovated it during the past five years.
This has been the greatest adventure so far but also the fulfillment of a long-standing dream.

Coucou Christine, is what my French neighbors lovingly call me when we meet. Coucou is the French way of an intimate Hello. For me, it is a lot more: the pronunciation is melodic, gentle, personal, endearing and quintessentially French. It makes me feel at home.

In my blog I will share my experience with the charm of the South of France, with its people, the lifestyle, the typical way how to decorate and furnish a french country house, nature and Mediterranean plants in my garden and in the surroundings and all the little adventures one experiences every day. The South of France has cast its spell on me and I am happy to share my joy, excitement but sometimes also desperation as I immerse myself in the culture.

So if you also dream of a summer house, change of surroundings and are curious about French culture, if you are interested in architecture, design, mediterranean plants or lifestyle, here I will share my impressions and you can observe, read and join me on my journey. Or you can go a step further, pack a suitcase and experience it yourself.

Our apartment is for rent in the summer.
